East german 7.62 x39 ammo

I took mine home 2 weeks ago. Mounted a SWFA SS 10x42m and fired 80 rounds through it this last weekend. I was impressed. At 100 yards, Cheap Tula 123 grain steel case stuff shot just under 2 inches off sand bags with the last 10 rounds of the day. The barrel being way too hot to touch by that time. The action smoothed out during shooting and the trigger felt better than expected.
The cheap stock was not fully free floating and will need to be clearanced which may help accuracy a little.
All told for just over $400 I have an reasonably accurate multipurpose rifle for the pleasure of cheap shooting.
I am not getting the complaints on the magazine. The mini 30 mags release is easier to get to than the AK mag they are reliable and only mid range in cost. I don’t see the need for more than a half dozen spare magazines for a bolt action rifle.

Mark, obviously you favor the AK-47 because I assume you own one and possibly subscribe to the “bigger is better” argument. And generally that’s true, with the exception of the AK-47 as the weapon is designed to just throw rounds down range with the accuracy of a 12ga shotgun. The US needs a weapon that can hit the target with a sense of accuracy beyond 50 yds. YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT AK ACCURACY, or should I say LACK of it. It just doesn’t deliver. The ONLY reason terrorist love the weapon is because their versions are full auto, and they can throw lots of rounds down range, quickly. Without hitting there target though. I’ll take a weapon I can reach out 300 yds with a head shot as compared to your semi-auto AK that can’t hit the side of a barn with. And by the way, I was in Nam and the M16 by the time I got there was and still is a great platform that is NOW quite reliable, accurate and lightweight.

BurlMeister said: "The Lucky Gunner is the place I'll be buying my ammo from now was my first time experience at buying ammo on line, so I was a little concerned. They were easy to find and navigate their web selection was out standing and great prices. The thing that stood out the most was there customer service. You know all about your puchase and where it is until it reaches your front door, then they e-mail to make sure you recieved it. They are a company that knows customer service is what can make a company in difficult economic times."

I am not an AR fan, nor an AK fan, but I would love to own one of each just for fun. Both do what they were designed to do, and quite well. The AR is lightweight, easy to carry and shoot, and allows you to carry a lot of ammo. The AK is more powerful, more reliable in its cheapest form compared to the AR cheapest form, and extremely less expensive! Both have good availability of ammo, though the AR ammor seems to be a bit more expensive. Either will take down a human in combat, which is what both were designed to do! The AR in it’s more expensive iterations is pretty reliable, but still you just are not going to rival the reliability of the AK in an AR, no matter what!
